A commute is not a gaming session. You have one hand on a rail, one eye on your stop, and no patience for a login screen. The best commute game is the one you can start without reading a manual and leave without losing anything important.
What makes a commute game work
The round has to end on its own, or close enough. It should tolerate a bumped thumb and a glance away. And it should not ask you to come back tomorrow for a reward; the gap is now, not a streak.
The five
Stack is the purest version: tap to drop a block, watch the tower narrow, and start again in two seconds. Tap Rush is the opposite shape — thirty seconds of reaction, then a score. Merge 2048 is the familiar swipe puzzle when you want something to think about. Klondike is for a longer sit with no timer. Nonogram gives you a 5×5 picture puzzle when the train is stuck.
One rule for the platform
If the train lurches, let the round go. None of these games charge you for closing the tab, and the best scores stay on your device. Pick the one that matches the length of the gap, not the one with the longest tutorial.
